Ok, so does anyone else think that the whole "Boston Terrorist Attack" thingie has been blown out of proportion? I wake up this morning, and I look at my tv, and Adult Swim is apologizing for something, and I catch the last half of it, and that inspires me to wake up and go look on the internet to find out what the hell happened. Ok, so I found out. And believe you me, it is FUCKING RETARDED.

Ok, so you read the story from that last link right? Good, now you understand why this is retarded, yes? Ok good. Just thought I would update and make sure everyone understood how completely lame this shit is. The only thing lamer is the fact that it is all over FOX news like they have nothing better to do. The only thing lamer than THAT, is the fact that FOX news is STILL talking about it, and they are now debating shit like "Maybe they made the calls to the police after they set up the 'Hoax Devices', so they would get more attention for it."

God I hate FOX news.

While sitting around the house today feeling like crap after the dentist, I watched some C-Span and the like, and I am really getting more and more outraged every day by big TelCo corporations trying to gain control of the internet. It sickens me to think that someday I might have to beg someone, Oliver Twist style, for more bandwidth please?

In case you have absolutely no idea what I am talking about, I am talking about Net Neutrality. Net Neutrality, for those of you who have been in a cave all year, refers to the idea that the internet is a neutral place, not owned by anyone, and allowing all content to be judged as the same, with no preferential treatment one way or the other. But now big broadband companies like Comcast, and AT&T want to buy the internet, so to speak, in order to serve their own interests, and ignore yours. So I am going to post some videos for anyone who still doesn't get what I am talking about.

So today I watched quite a lot of tv. I watched a lot of Monk, and I watched some episodes of Psych that I had recorded to my DVR. If you haven't ever watched Monk or Psych, let me just go ahead and tell you, you're a douchebag (which is easily remedied, by just watching the shows of course[New Episodes this Friday on USA, check your local listings]). Right, but enough bashing you for not watching good television, the purpose of this post is actually to discuss the "new" VISA commercial. I say "new" because I think it is the most recent one, and I have been meaning to discuss this for some time.

Ok, so now that you have seen the commercial that I hate more than any other commercial ever, can you figure out why I hate it? It isn't the annoying music, or the fact that it looks like the blue ball machine. No, the reason I hate this commercial, is because VISA makes you look like an asshole if you don't use their card.

I use cash for most purchases at places like restaurants and convenience store type places, because I never have to wait for a debit/credit to go through.

"But wait Warner, VISA just said that if you use a debit card, it is 3908 times faster than using cash! I think you are just being a bastard!"

Never once have I ever seen a debit card/credit card go through in less than 30 seconds. I have worked as a cashier in my day, and as a server, both of which involved heavy dealings with monetary exchange, and people who payed in cash were always the fastest to leave the counter/table. Unless the new VISA cards have some kind of temporal displacement unit in them, making them go back in time to the exact moment after you swiped, then there is absolutely no way it is faster than taking the cash, putting it in the till, and handing back change. I have even decided to be so generous as to break it down in step formation for everyone out there, so they can see what happens during each type of transaction.

Paying with Cash

Cashier rings up items.
Cashier tells you the total.
You reach into your wallet/pocketbook, which should already be in hand, and hand them the closest equivalent to the amount owed. (I.E. handing them a $20 for an $18.58 purchase, etc etc)
They hand you back your change and receipt.
You're done.

Paying with Debit/Credit card

Cashier rings up items.
Cashier tells you the total.
You reach into your wallet/pocketbook, which should already be in hand, and hand them your debit/credit card, unless you are in a self swiping store.
If you have handed the cashier your card, they will (or at least are supposed to) look at the back for the signature. If they don't check the back of your card, skip steps 5 and 6.
Cashier will ask for I.D. if you have requested that they do so on the back of your card (See/Check I.D. written in the signature field) If you have not written this, skip this step.
Wait for cashier to hand back drivers license.
Cashier/You will now swipe card.
Wait for the card to process, usually around 5-15 seconds.
When prompted tell the cashier "Debit/Credit".
If debit, insert pin code now. If credit, sign paper/screen.
Wait for final authorization.
Success, you have finally finished this 12 step program! Cashier will hand you receipt and you can be on your way.

To save time for everyone, I didn't add the fact that a Debit/Credit transaction can be declined. I know it isn't all that often, but it happens, and that is another inconvenience, and more time wasted.

So yeah, that's why I hate that commercial. It is basically telling you that if you don't use a debit/credit card by VISA when you are in your fruity deli/coffee shop buying stupid shit, not only will you hold up the line, but at least 100 people will be thrown into pure chaos, and they will be unable to stop themselves from the collision course they have plotted with your exact coordinates in timespace and the Universe. So remember kids : Everyone thinks you are an unshaven slobby homo if you don't pay with VISA, asshole.

I think I am going to write a book.

I might also move to Canada. Many of you who know me, know that, as long as you have known me, I have supported the President's decision to go to war in Iraq. Well, here recently I have become more and more heartbroken over the loss of countless troops, in a distant country where they don't give a shit about America, so why should we give a shit about bringing them Democracy? Yes I bought into it at first, because I thought it was a good idea. Go there, bomb a couple of places, overthrow despots, and building schools and hospitals, and rebuilding their Mosques, etc, etc.

Well, that is obviously not what is happening over there. And to make matters worse, nobody in Washington knows how to end this shitstorm, because the Republicans don't give a shit about the soldiers, they just give a shit about "God and the American way" and scaring people into voting for them by using the Patriot Act to call anyone who brushes their teeth with anything other than than what they approve of to be a Terrorist. Continuing the war is their way of continuing to control the populace. And the Democrats don't give a shit about the soldiers or ending the war either, they just see Republican bashing, and getting in their fair share of "I told you so's", and bashing the war in Iraq as a platform to push their ideals on you, and to make you want to vote for THEM instead. And now the Dem's wanna cut funding to the troops, in an effort to "end the war" due to a lack of funds?

I don't see how cutting funding to the men and women who are stuck in the sand and shit over there is going to help get them home. Spending less money on their armor and weaponry is gonna end the war? I don't think so. The only way that is going to end the war is when the insurgents kill the rest of the people who are stuck fighting over there, and there isn't an Allied soldier LEFT to fight. Then the war is over, they win, and what have we accomplished?

Absolutely nothing. Actually, we have accomplished a whole bunch of shit, it's just that none of it is GOOD shit. We have killed an elderly man (not saying he didn't have it coming), we have started a civil war, we have ripped apart families (The families of the Allied soldiers who lost their lives, and the Iraqi insurgents, who wouldn't be insurgents in the first place if we weren't there in the first fucking place), and we have lost face with the world at large.

So I guess this is just my way of saying "Hey George, thanks for getting my friends killed, you fucking asshole." I just want all of my fellow Americans who are still over in Iraq to know that although I may not know them all, I love them, and I want them all to come home safe and sound, and I want this stupid fucking war to be over with, now.

So yeah, I guess this is my first post back from my ban on blogging. Well, not so much a ban as it was more of a self-imposed embargo. Basically this blog will serve the purpose of talking about my favorite games/movies/music etc etc, and so on and so forth. I suppose that will be all for now, so until I actually post something, enjoy....well this is it, so I guess enjoy this boring ass post.
